I was messing around with models in L4D1 and something I'd like to add to the new server is the survivors from L4D2 into L4D1 so you can pick them in the !cs menu.

So if we can get the models visible in the game, the !cs menu would look like this:

1. Bill
2. Zoey
3. Francis
4. Louis
5. Coach
6. Rochelle
7. Nick
8. Ellis

The only thing is they won't have their original voices. Coach would have Bill's voice, Rochelle would have Zoey's voice, Nick would have Francis' voice, and Ellis would have Louis' voice. Of course the proper voices could be added. The voices are actually pretty easy to add. It's just that there thousands of voice files which would take a long time to add properly. So I don't know if I'll get around to that part since that would take a long time.

And if we can get the L4D2 survivor models working, I'll add the models for the special infected from L4D2 as well.

Some of you are probably thinking why don't I just play L4D2 instead? I played L4D2 for the first time today. And while I did like it, I do not like the way the game looks in certain aspects. For one it's way to bright, making things looked washed out. L4D1 looks more realistic. Playing L4D2 made me feels like I was inside a constant fog, which I couldn't stand.

I also thought about adding L4D1 custom models. I know how to get those working (yes online) but first I'd like to get the L4D2 models working.

I write a guide for the customs later on.

yeah costum models its kinda easier cuz they replace only the skin but for l4d2 characters it would need change the model wich would be much difficult but not imposible ...it would need alot of work like an option to download throw server by somehow same way like costom skins....dunno either o0

I have the L4D2 models already and they are loaded into L4D1, without crashing. You just can't see them cuz something needs to be edited to them so you can see them. I'm just not sure what it is. I was playing as Rochelle with Zoey's voice as a test.

I got the L4D2 survivors models to work in L4D1

They work fine too But I haven't added them to the server yet because you need to have the files too for it to work for you. If you don't have the models and connect to the server while someone is playing as a L4D2 survivor, you game will reset because you don't have that model.

The News Chopper 5 Pilot model works too. I wanted to add him to the character select menu, but he's kinda buggy

I could pack the L4D2 models and have people download them as an add-on. But everyone who wants to play as the L4D2 survivors has to download it. There is a way to have people auto-download stuff when they connect to the server, but I can't get it to work properly.

So should I try to fix the auto-download for people (I don't know if I'll be able to) or should I bundle it so you can manually download it?

Also, since I as able to get this to work, this means that I can add many more custom models for the L4D1 survivors wearing different clothes as well and we can all play as them

I have a better idea. I will make one single VPK file with all the custom skins and models so that we can use them on the server.

So basically we will able be able to have all the survivors from both L4D1 and L4D2 along with different clothes for each one and more playable characters. Something like this:

And yes we will all be able to see who picks what skin/clothes/model while playing

But before I make the VPK file, does anyone have a specific model/skin that they want to be included? (Except nude models because little kids sometimes play on the server.) Let me know because I also have to add it to the character select menu.
