Hey guys, quick question because I'm kinda losing my mind over here lol. So I've been messing around with some old photos and AI sketches trying to make them into proper 3D stuff for a little side project (think game assets or just printing random junk). Normally I'd spend hours in Blender fumbling with extrudes and all that nightmare, but I keep hearing about these new tools that supposedly just take one image and boom - you get a textured 3D model in like under a minute. Is that real life now? Like upload a pic of a cool robot toy or a fantasy sword sketch and it spits out something usable in GLB or OBJ without me needing a degree in 3D? Anyone actually tried this recently and got decent results? Does it handle weird angles or messy backgrounds okay, or do I need perfect studio shots? Share your war stories or wins please, I'm desperate to skip the modeling pain!

Yo OP, yeah it's wild how far this stuff has come. I was super skeptical too but gave it a shot last week with some random phone pics and even a couple of quick doodles I scanned. Honestly blew my mind - one second you're staring at a flat image of a vintage car, next thing you know you've got a fully rotatable, textured 3D version you can export and toss into Unity or whatever. No modeling skills required, literally zero. The good ones now let you pick different AI flavors for speed vs detail, and some even clean up the geometry a bit afterward. For best results though, try to use clear shots with the object kinda centered and plain background if you can. But even with meh pics it still pulls off something usable most times. Check out this 3d model from image tool that worked great for me, saved me tons of time. Definitely worth playing with if you're tired of manual work. What kinda stuff are you trying to convert?
