DOD Ban appeal

Hi Guys,
I have the following ban
Server # 410
[AMXBans] ===============================================
[AMXBans] You are permanently banned.
[AMXBans] Banned Nickname : Fat rat 101
[AMXBans] Reason : ' Bypassing existing ban '
[AMXBans] You can complain about your ban @ www.475thrangers.com
[AMXBans] Your SteamID : ' STEAM_0 : 0 : 217750433 '
[AMXBans] Your IP : ' 203.63.7.198 '
[AMXBans] ===============================================

The situation is that I am introducing and training my two 13 yr old sons to play DOD. "Fat rat" was being used by one of them. . I have played for a number of years On MM's server's - in fact I hardly play anywhere else - and I have learnt the rules and protocols however my son's are still getting the hang of it and they learn as we go and they have improved a lot in this regard. As we all live in the same house, though do not play from the same rooms as we are often on opposing teams and it would not be fair for them to hear the other team's chatter, they sometimes mess up. I am not sure what my son's original ban was for however I would rather educate him about these things rather than have him - and along with him - the whole house banned because you guys ban on IP and not STEAM ID and have made this ban permanent. I hope that they have a future playing DOD on Merrill's but a permanent ban is highly punitive and doesn't give him much room to learn from this. If you may advise as to the nature of the initial ban, what he did to circumvent it and give us an opportunity to learn from it eg a two week or month ban to feel some pain that would be most helpful and appreciative. Cheers, Aussiemodo.

Fat Rat,

The original ban was for...well, basically not following our server rules - randomly firing weapon, tking without apology (although excessive tking will get you banned anyway), and not listening to an admin.

I am willing to overturn the ban and give you the benefit of the doubt. However YOU are responsible for your account, who you allow to play using your account and their actions using your account. Should you allow them to continue using your account and they break the rules, another ban will be issued.

Look forward to seeing you back in game.

Hi Sandy,

Thank you very much for the offer to overturn the ban and clearly noted re being responsible for my account. I will impress these rules upon my progeny and guide them more closely and seek to take greater care myself.

Question. Are the rules that appear upon logging into the game the complete list or is there possibly a more comprehensive list elsewhere, the www.475thrangers.com website appears to not load / exist, so that we may be across all of them and conduct ourselves accordingly?

Aside and taking the opportunity of conversing with an admin, when I was on yesterday a link briefly popped up re making contributions to keeping the 475th servers running. I have been meaning to for some time but the link disappeared too soon and I haven't been able to source it elsewhere on this forum. May you post it in reply?

hampies,

Unfortunately we no longer have a website nor are the rules displayed in game complete. After some of these bans have been contested and to be fair, we don't have them posted anywhere and rely on the admins enforcing unwritten rules, I've been thinking about posting the rules here. However, not all players visit here and would miss seeing the rules anyway.

Thanks for your understanding and please realize that there seems to be a large number of people that visit our servers, break even the written rules and then cry innocent when a ban is issued. So at times it can be difficult to sort the good from the bad and we'll deal with the individual cases here.

Should you want to donate to our server fund, you can follow this link and do so: https://www.nfoservers.com/donate.pl?force_recipient=1&recipient=admin@475thrangers.com

Thanks and enjoy!

Hi Sandy,

Thank you for the feedback.

It would be really useful for the rules to be posted here, even if it were just under the news section.

Indeed it wouldn't be seen by everyone right away but it would at least give you admins a place that you can refer folk to after their first ban say so that they may be across all the possible infractions going forward.

Additionally i don't know of any other place folk can go to to appeal a ban so here would be as good as any and quite convenient.

I am very eager that I do not get banned again as serial infractions do get one a longer or permanent ban and I am quite concerned that I possibly am not across all the rules and may inadvertently break one or more still.

Again thanks for all you admins do to keep the MM server's a great place to play.

Cheers
