And now another player decides to add my nickname to their profile.

I have already added my nickname to my profile and i want to know why gametracker allows other users to associate my name to their profile?

Because of this "BUG" it now says that i live in their country and not my own.

I have mailed gametracker admins and do not get a response.
Where is my privacy protection rights?

WHY DO YOU ALLOW OTHERS TO ASSOCIATE MY NAME TO THEIR PROFILE?

Do you not realise that hackers could "abuse" our nicknames this way!

When adding the nickname to my profile i want to be the only person with that nickname, I do not want other people adding my nickname to their profile as if it was their own.

GameTracker has no email for help and faq questions.

People are able to claim nicknames with multiple profiles. Sometimes users have multiple GT accounts, it is a generic name that multiple users use, etc. It's not "hacking."

If only one person could claim a nickname, the wrong user could claim the nickname so no one else could.

So' this means he can still associate my name to his profile?
& anyone else in that matter. is there a maximum limit on how many times you can associate? because if so i will create more profiles & associate them to mine so that i reach that limit & stop it from happening again.

As for the hacking' ..You misunderstand me.
A little while back there was a problem with a hacker who was using my name in our server A-R-E-N-A & I only discovered his identity recently courtesy of his friend invite on gametracker.

In his recent history it clearly stated he had played on the server with my name & whats even more troubling is that my profile would show up beside him while he pretended to be me.

This had never happened before, only after i accepted his friend invite. i had to rename my old profile & create a new profile.

this is nearly word for word the same problem i posted a few months ago. i think its a stupid policy to allow more than 1 profile to claim a gaming nick. i fully accept that nicknames generally arent 100 percent unique and are used by many people throughout the gaming world, but on the same game and server? i would imagine the first person to claim a nick on the server would actually be the authentic player. why is it that we would claim a nick 2 maybe even 3 years before the real person? thats just not logical. its very irritating
your servers are plagued with abuses. and should be tackled sooner

What if the first person to claim the nickname was not the actual user? The fact of being able to block out the real user would lead to more abuse actually. We get very very few abuse reports per week regarding incorrect nickname linking. That sluxx server is just notorious for complainers and abusers that it could be deleted due to issues on the page if the admin does not manage it better.

Surely there must be some kind of work around that gametracker can come up with to only associate 1 user.

If that means the user has to post in the forum with proof that he is the genuine player then so be it.

Just because it hasnt happened much in the past does not mean this will not become a problem in the future.

The times are moving fast & these days most servers are plagued by catalyst hacks which allows the hacker to name hack & have an identical name as an online player.

I made the mistake of accepting a hackers friend invite on gametracker & for some strange reason when he played with my name my profile was always displayed in the server list.

Look' we are simply pointing out problems that may arise in the not so distant future & surely the feedback from your members must be appreciated?

We appreciate having gametracker keep us up to date with our stats
but you do not hear us complain about who gives you the right to track us? We simply want more control over our usernames.

i disagree giving everyone the ability to claim a nick is far more open to abuse than first to claim exclusivity . @ clari3 you are right these are pretty standard issues that will only grow in the future. burn if sluxx is notorious its only bc your site leaves these areas open to abuse i would imagine sluxx is one of the most active servers monitored by GT. i dont think gametracker can track ips but there needs to be someway of stopping people from creating profiles for the purpose of abusing others it wouldnt be acceptable on any other social networking site ie facebook or twitter why is it here? it would be better if it allowed a player to claim their nick exclusively and only the top 30 players are allowed write on server blog .this would eliminate any of these abuses.If your waiting on the owner of server to intervene dont waste your time he has little or no interest in doing so. Im leaving gt and deleting my account because GAMETRACKER has become TROLLHACKER full of people spewing racial and sexual harassment

The issues with that server are mainly regarding the blog.

i can come up with no reason why that blog shouldnt be deleted for good. its rare to see anything constructive or inoffensive on it

again with the monkey stuff
