hello again,
i played on this Q3A server: 66.150.121.142:27960 from about 2:30AM EDT to about 3:40AM EDT Thursday morning (6.14.12) and got 50 points approximately every 3 minutes. but my stats have not shown up and it's been almost 24 hours. i should've registered more than 1000 points. player name: -{gdwg}-mooseD |

Hi gdawgg,
Thanks for mentioning this problem. Looking at your scoring on 66.150.121.142:27960 for Thursday, I see 169 points. This is obviously wrong. We are always trying to improve our stats system. Can you tell me more about how the server was running on Thursday? - Were the 1000 points all from a single game, or split up across multiple games? - About how long was each round? - Was it setup for time limit or frag limit? - Do you recall if the map changes between rounds? Best regards. |

- multiple games but it was the same map over and over.
- each round was between two and a half minutes to three and a half minutes - it had both a fraglimit and a timelimit (50 and 20) - same map: q3dm1 |

gdawgg wrote: Hi gdawgg, Is your score reset on the server every 2 1/2 to 3 minutes? If so, the low score may be related to the fact that GameTracker only scans your server every 1-3 minutes. For example, if the site coincidentally scans your server 30 seconds into each round, you may only be seen with a low score but your time would increase normally. Thus, it may depend on when GameTracker is actually scanning your server during the very short round. I've looked at the player history over the past month and compared time and score - amount of time relative to score is not always consistent, but this may depend on how much you spectate. Does this seem like a possible explanation to you? ![]() |

Burn - I think you hit the nail on the head with this one. The short 2-3 minute rounds probably aren't getting scanned frequently enough by GT.
Quake 3 can be a very fast game! Better stats support for short rounds is high on our list of improvements for the site. |

thank you guys very much.
that makes perfect sense. i appreciate you taking the time to look into this. what i'll do for now is extend the fraglimit to 75. that will push the game duration over 4 minutes. do you think that will fix this issue? |

Hi gdawgg,
I appreciate your understanding. Increasing the game duration to 4 minutes will help the quality of the stats on GT - but it won't be perfect. This is something that will require work on the GT side to further improve. What I do recommend, although I do not know if it is possible, would be to set a timeout between matches. 30 secs to 1 minute would be ideal. This timeout will give GT time to grab stats after the match has completed. Although, this timeout could annoy impatient players. Best regards. |

Hi gdawgg,
It would help, but it would not necessarily "fix" it. GameTracker will always be artificially low due to the fact that there is a time lag between scans. The longer the server stays on one round or map before restarting the server, the better the probability that the more complete point total will be seen. For more accurate history, I would suggest a minimum of 6 minute rounds so GameTracker should be able to scan the server twice during one round. ![]() |
