Hey Guys,
Is there any possible way of hiding the server ip from the gametracker html banners??? Its kinda silly having any sort of IP showing dont you think especially for gamerserver such as bf3 seen as we dont connect via ip..... Anyways the reasons for this is my servers are easily open to DOS attacks kicking everyone from the servers. Maybe something gametracker should look into providing, html banners from gametracker are a must for most if not all clans sites yet exposing server ip's to be easily dos/ddosed Hope i can get a good backing on this and hopefully have atleast the option of hiding our server ip's Kind Regards Geordie XD |

Hello,
Honestly, the best option for any system administrator would be to invest in decent protection for the server. Hiding the IP on GameTracker would not prevent any DDOS attack, as anyone with the slightest knowledge about networking or just the game itself would be able to get the IP address. It would be safe to assume that anyone who would know how to begin a DDOS attack would fit those. The server IP is also seen on battlelog isn't it? I'm just not convinced this would be a necessary feature. While I can understand why you might think it might be helpful, I just don't see how it would actually prevent a DDOS. ![]() |

I'd like this ability as well for the simple fact that although I'd like my fellow TeamSpeak members and guests to be able to see who's online when they browse our site, I'd rather not broadcast my server IP and information to the world.
yes I realize that we're unlikely to be subject to DDOS attacks, and that anyone attempting to connect will be required to enter the proper TS password (thus stopping those guests from actually connecting) however this is still unnecessary information as we inform our members of the TS info through other means and I'd rather not have it displayed on the page. It must be possible to simply add the ability for us to click a checkbox to hide the IP (or give us the option to 'mask' it with some other text) when creating the Iframe code for our sites? As I've seen from another thread some folks would like to have this IP switched over to their domain name instead. Perhaps just givinig us the ability to mask the IP with some other text instead would 'fix' both these requests? |
