Hello there, Here is the quick tutorial How to make a Dynamic DNS Hostname for those who have dynamic IP address and running a game server over it.
What is Dnamic DNS ? In simple words, For example you have a Game Server having Dynamic IP address. So, Whenever you reset your modem your, IP address will be changed though server is running. In this case you can't publish your new IP address to everyone. So, you can use DNS hostname instead of IP address which resolves your Dynamic IP address. However, your IP address is keep changing but DNS Hostname will never change. If your IP has changed then just update new IP to your DNS Hostname so, DNS Hostname will have the new IP. Here, I'm going to show you guys how to make a DNS Hostname ! You just need follow these steps given below. First of all,Go to the http://www.noip.com [It's a free service] and Singup by yourself. Once you have logged into your account you should see the following page! ![]() After that click on the "Add a Host" and you will see a form having some fields. we need only two fields first one is Hostname and second one is your server IP address. And then click on the "Add Host". ![]() Once you have done You should see this page right here. You must wait for 4-5 minutes after you create a new host or when you modify the IP address. ![]() Now, You can connect with your server using this DNS Hostname "youhostname.zapto.org" You would like to use DNS feature in the GameTracker because once your IP changed you will lost your game server rank. So if you want to save your game server rank then I highly recommend you guys to use DNS hostname feature. GameTracker will find a new IP address by using your DNS name. Now how to do it ? Primary requirement of using DNS feature on GameTracker is, You must owner of the server and you have claimed your server. Now, Go to the "Manage" tab and look at the "UPDATE DNS NAME" settings. ![]() ![]() Copy and paste the DNS name which we have created earlier. And then click on the "UPDATE DNS" Button. Once you have done all these you should wait for 30 to 40 minutes to change the IP on the GameTracker. [GameTracker will show you that these server has been deleted with Red Page but don't worry after 30-40 minutes, your page will come with new IP address ] Now, What if your game server hosting changed your IP Address again? Now how to update new IP address ? So, It's very easy just go to the http://www.noip.com and logged in to account. and click on the "Manage Hosts" ![]() After that click on the "Modify" in order to change the IP address of the DNS Hostname. ![]() Then you should see the form, You just need to change the IP address which has been changed by your game hosting. ![]() After that click on the "Update Host". Now your DNS Hostname is assinged with the new IP address. Wait for 30-40 minutes as I have mentioned before. [GameTracker will show you that these server has been deleted with Red Page but don't worry after 30-40 minutes, your page will come with new IP address ] After every change of IP address you will need to change IP address on noip.com according to DNS name. And here we go. You have changed your game server IP address without losing your current rank of your Game Server. If you need any help regarding this, just PM me I will help you. Thanks to the Game Tracker developer team for this awesome feature!!

If you would like to be able to _not_ have to change the no-ip host ip when your server/router ip changes, then all you need to do is set up a ddns feature with your online hub/router settings. I have a BT homehub, and it has a ddns settings page that allows me to connect my no-ip account with my bt homehub so that my router will send the new ip to no-ip to update the ip for my hostname, then in turn gametracker will always be connected to an always updating hostname/ip meaning that you never have to change the ip again even if your hub/router restarts. I hear that this is a common feature on all/most new routers!!! Need any help, then message me and I can try my best to help, or reply to this thread! J
