Might someone, here, be so kind as to clarify, in short, the benefits for applying a DNS name to your server, as well as maybe one or two guidelines, when doing so?

The main benefit to using the DNS feature on your server page is in cases where the server runs on a dynamic IP, such as if you are hosting from home. Without using DNS, you'd need to re-add the server whenever the IP changes. By using DNS, you allow GT to update the IP of the page automatically when the IP of the DNS address changes.

If any regular users connect manually via IP, sometimes they also find it easier to remember.
