I am unable to add friends to my profile, using the edit friends on my profile page.

I am a mac user | OSX 10.11.2. Safari 9.0.2.

Go to the other person's profile and Click 'Add Friend'
They can choose to accept or not.

Edit;
You may not be able to add friends until you have been a member for 7 days. Sorry, not sure about that.

I don't think you need to wait a week to add friends. Simply go to the profile page of the user you want to add as a friend and click the Add Friend action.
