One of the game tracker links I *claimed*, yes I repeat *claimed*, now displays "The server you requested is not in the GameTracker database."....care to explain? I thought by claiming said servers, something like this never happens EVEN if the servers are down, which they were, but now they're all back up again, I looked at my servers tab and see they're not listed, so I dug into my links of old game tracker links for previously started servers and entered it here and it says "The server you requested is not in the GameTracker database."....seriously....

I've only had the servers out for a few days and now this? So that means I need to repeat the claim thing again(and for any future occurrences where I need to shutdown a server for even a second??!)!! You do know some of us have MORE than *one* server, right? So for me repeating this for all, however many that got removed from database, is gonna be a pain in the ass! And since you guys don't have a batch method, I have to do this manually one by one.....

I think "even a second" may be something of an exaggeration no?.

The amount of time a server is down relative to it being dropped automatically is dependent in part on how long the server has been registered.

I don't know the algorithm as I am not one of the developers.

It would I believe be unusual to find a server dropped within two weeks, unless it had only very recently been added, and even then less than a week would (as far as I have seen) be unheard of.

Ah ok, well I've only had them up since 10-2-17(and just had them go offline for a bit whilst I add some new maps, mods and change stuff to it...I believe I only had them offline for about three days....or four...? ...but wasn't any longer than that)....so that would count as recent?

I would count that as recent, given that adding them on the 10th, them being down for (worst case) 4 days and it now being the 21st (where I sit), that would mean they'd been up for just a week, and then down for 4 days.

It seems a little quicker than I would expect, but as I said; I don't know the algorithm.

We get lots of 'funny' people here
Many, many servers are added from people's home PC, and then they discover it's not working well, and they go off line.
Perhaps the devs were allowing more for that, than your scenario.

Alright then...so I guess I will expect further removal in future if I do another lengthy update to my servers? How long do the servers need to be up so that anytime I do updates on them, they are not removed even if the update may take up to a week?

Hah - my servers aren't home hosted, mine's on a proper server box that's hosted at a data center in the same state I live in. ☺ Unfortunately my home internet is too piss poor to host any game servers whilst also have enough juice left over to do the usual stuff I do at home......like stream 1080p or even 2160p if I find any videos with that quality setting.....

That and I would need to dedicate ONE computer to be turned on 24/7 for it to *truly* be dedicated server box.....I can probably make this, but the lack of performance with my ADSL2+ connection....is not really enticing....that and what am I to do if I get DoS or worse - DDoS?? My provider can protect me from this, but what can I do if I were to do this at home? And what if I get a blackout or a brownout? Welp there goes the server......because I don't have a backup generator or power source...and UPS only last so long until they also go out....

Oh I see...this is more for those temp home hosted servers......but who in the right mind would want to claim their own server only for it to last maybe one week?! Hahahaha

Perhaps they should add an option to ask if this is home hosted or at a proper data center. The former would tell GameTracker that this server might not last as long, and the latter might tell GameTrack, oh this server might be on for a while so I won't delete you until say you go offline for a good 6 months or something....

Well yes that's true, they could, but GameTracker could just *omit* that detail and just only ask them whether it's home hosted or not, for *documentation* purposes(or just for records and knowing how many servers are home hosted and how many are not home hosted for example, but of course have another motive for such a question...)....hee hee...and then yeah..... That way they can weazel out the home hosted ones from the ones hosted at a data center and then would be more inclined to remove the home hosted ones than as to remove the data centre hosted ones.

How can they be confused? Unless this site isn't available in their native language(and only in English) the only other way to solve this (that I can think of) is to further break it down and explain like they're a brick wall so even the dumbest of the dumb can still understand what GameTracker wants.....

GameTracker will automatically remove servers that are offline for too long. The easiest way to avoid this is to keep the server online. While it's unfortunate your server has sizable amounts of downtime, no changes are planned on GT's end.
Thanks!
