Apprisal

Two factor authentication is an additional level of security that can be applied to an account.

The first level of security on an account is your login credentials: your account name and password.

With 2FA, a second level of security is applied to your account, making it more difficult for an account be stolen.

When 2FA is enabled on an account, you must enter some code received by E-mail or some other means.

Methods of receiving a 2FA code can include but not limited to a Mobile Authentication Device or the E-mail account tied to the user's GameTracker account.

Another implementation that should be added is, confirmations.

I.e - When someone takes action on an account, as per say derank a server; they need to enter a code that has been sent to the E-mail account tied to that GameTracker account.

What can this feature help to ameliorate?

— Unathorized actions taken on a user account; reinstating the use of authenticating an action through confirmations.

— Stolen accounts; whether by phishing or just sharing account details.

— Safe-guard an account that has been stolen; by requiring confirmations.

Yes this will benefit all users. I have seen complains that some one did this did that but i think if this is implemented in future then it is going to be great for all.

A feature like this can be optional.

There's no need for it to be mandatory.

Server owners should however have it enabled and that should be a requirement.

yes i agree with this. Should be optional and be used when ever required.
