I don't know if this is in your interest (do you earn money with the GT Lite client?), but maybe you could offer additional links to join servers from the server page for games that allow joining via URL besides or instead of the "join via GT Lite"-link?
One example would be UT2004: It starts the game directly and joins the server if the URL has the following format (ut2004://*IP*) Play: ut2004://109.231.191.6 Spectate: ut2004://109.231.191.6?SpectatorOnly=1 For example I don't want to download a program just to join the single server in my favourite. Yeah, I could keep a bookmark, but after all the Play-button on the server page is useless for me even though it wouldn't need to be. And maybe I also play UT on a friend's PC where I neither have GT Lite nor my bookmark. I don't know which other games support this kind of joining, but it might be a nice feature. ![]() |

Hello crusha_k_rool,
I don't foresee us changing the "Join" links on the GameTracker.com server search pages away from the GT Lite format. If anything, we may consider adding specialty link support inside GT Lite (example: Launch with ut2004:// instead of our current setup - which launches by command line arguments). I understand your point of not wanting to install additional software just to launch "Join" links. This goes hand-in-hand with why we try to keep the GT Lite client as lightweight as possible. Thanks for the feedback! |
