Ohai
Being the obsessive gamer I am, I wanted to record all my game hours. One of the programs obviously used for this is GameTracker. Anyway to the point, I've had trouble in the past where the game executable it was detecting for launch was not the same as the one I had, for varying reasons. One game I had this problem with a while ago was Dwarf Fortress (btw, thanks for adding this game, surprised to see it here). The simple solution for this game was to just rename the executable launch. However recently I've encountered a problem with Diablo 2: LOD. Due to some quirky setup, I don't have the option of renaming the executable. I have already (I know it is discouraged) decided to try things my way and edited the gameslist.xml file, however it seemed to change nothing at all. Are there any ways to get GT to detect my missing games? |

Hi fuzz ball,
GT Lite only supports the distributions of games that we have added in the gameslist.xml file. If GT Lite did not auto-detect D2:LOD and manually searching for D2:LOD with the "Add Game" window does not work, then either: 1. We do not currently support your distro. In this case, let us know where you got it! The "Help -> Request Game" is a great way to tell us about it. (These forums are fine for that too) 2. We do support the distro, but there could be a bug in GT Lite causing it to fail to detect. Report this too! As you mentioned, another solution would be to manually edit the XML file. I would rather fix the problem for all users, as described in either solution #1, or #2. However, XML files are human readable, with a little hacking, you could get the D2:LOD to recognize your custom installation. For obvious reasons, you're on your own with that. Best regards. |

In most cases the executables are variations on the original .exe which are usually patches or some unusual form of addon, so they're not the 'official' .exe, which I still have sitting there. The only other option would be to have a list of other possible executables which it could run for, but that might be hard to determine.
I've already had a play around with the xml file, changed the <run_exe> to the .exe I have but I've seen no change at all. Still, I'll keep trying and see what else I can get. The worst I can do is destroy GT on my computer altogether, which I could promptly reinstall a version and and begin again. Thanks for the reply. |

Hello again,
Yes, we can add support for lists of ".exe" files. That would be the responsibility of the GT Lite team to maintain these lists. To save you some time, it is best to start with an existing game distro entry in the XML file. Some "fs_", "run_", and "proc_" entries need to be set, not just the "run_exe". Which distro of D2:LOD are you using? Did you install it from a retail CD? GT Lite can support distros from CD's, game services like Steam/Origin/etc... - we just cannot support bootlegged copies. Best regards. |

Thanks for the help, turns out it works anyway :/
Just needed to restart my laptop for it to run again. The exe was some no cd patch... possibly the one Blizzard released back in 2008. Anyway thanks for your help again and the fast responses. Fuzz Ball |
