How does GameTracker rank servers?

I own a Garrysmod server and we were wondering how it's ranked. If our servers slots are set to 0/32 and we maintain 32/32 for around 3 hours, will it have a bigger difference than if our server maintains 35-37/40 for 3 hours?

My developer believes that a full server will gain rank faster than a server with a higher population that isn't completely full.

The demand from our playerbase for a slot in the server is higher than we can provide at 32 slots.

Rank is based on the popularity of your server. The players who have been on your server for the past month is what is considered toward your rank. A simple guide to see where you fit (but not a definite placement) is by looking at the average number of players on the server. Basically - the more players who come to your server, the better rank you will have.

Popularity from your server in the past week is considered most toward your rank, but simply if you remember that the more players that join your server, the higher rank your server will be, you will understand all you need to know about what rank is.

Here is the address to our game page:

http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/216.245.195.171:27015/

We were being ddosed for 2-3 days so we were down from around Sunday-Tuesday. We've been getting pretty good activity lately but our rank keeps dropping... Any reason why?

I'm starting to get the idea that it averages the week of our server against others and at the end of this week, midnight tonight, it'll go down again, but we should be good next week.

So, If I have a full server with the same people all week it won't rank as high as when random people are coming and going?

cheers, so it's not about the number of different people just the number playing. Thanks, been wondering that for a while.

Say I have a 16 players server with avarage of 15 players.
And someone has a 32 players server with avarage on 20 players.

Which server will be higher in rank. Does it count a percentage players from total or just a number of players?

The question has been answered.
The post above yours clarifies the answer completely with the phrase; "just the number of players"

No one has any interest in how many players a server could have, only in the number of players it does have.
