Arma 2 (IF1944) Servers went offline without reason

Hi there,

since yesterday, our Arma2 IF1944 Server is displayed as offline - but it isn't:
http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/144.76.105.109:2344/

When i noticed this yesterday, i thought the executable might be crashed again, so i was confused when logging on to the root, seeing that the server is running and that there are people playing just fine...

I tried to "scan" it, but your Interface tells me, that it "could not scan". I have no idea why because no one changed anything (IP & Ports are fine). A restart of the whole root-server brought no change. The Server is running exactly 1 year now and this problem appears for the first time (all other servers are running & displayed just right).

Any Ideas?

BTW: i found that list somewhere on the site:
208.167.241.190
208.167.241.179
208.167.241.180
108.61.78.147
108.61.78.148
108.61.78.149
108.61.78.150

resp. from the sticky post:

208.167.241.185
208.167.241.186

a traceroute told me that all IPs are reachable from the host, exept the second one (208.167.241.179). Maybe this has to do with it?

Best regards,
Guenix

GameTracker is able to reach your server, but it is not responding properly to the query so GT is rejecting it.

Unless this becomes a wider problem, GT cannot make query changes to accommodate a single server.

Have you recently modified any settings on your server?

Have you recently changed which mods / plugins it uses?

Is there a server update available?

First, thanks for your fast response, burn.

No one changed anything, as i said. Normally i have a look if everything is running fine 3-4 times a day. Yesterday, it worked as well, until somewhere around noon (cant remember exactly which time it was).

The Mod/Game is still the same, and also there is no update available. At least none that i'm aware of (Windows Server 2012 is up to date, i have to take a look if there is an update for the game executable; will do that later when home; but there shouldnt be one).

Strange thing is, that the server just runs fine. Even ArmaRCON is able to connect and manage the game.

If the game is not responding properly, could you give me a detail in which way? Just to point me in the right direction.

Hi again,

a little update: I looked around for an update, but it seems there is none. 1.05(1.65 Server) seems to be still actucal.

More than that, i tried the files from an older backup (when it worked definitely), started the server with it - same effect.

I'm out of ideas. Would be nice, if you could give me a hint about what's wrong with the "answers". For example, if you get a mess of letters or if just some information is missing. Something like that.

Best regards,
Guenix

The game uses the gamespy4 query protocol, and your server is not following it. At a glance, it seems to be following the GS2 query protocol. ARMA2 previously used GS2, but GT has not been using it for them for a while.

Unless it becomes more widespread with ARMA2 servers, it is unlikely that GT would be updated to accommodate for it. However, one of the GT developers will check tomorrow morning to see if an exception can be added to scan your server under the old protocol.

Your server should be scanning normally now using the old GS2 protocol. No one here knows why your server would start using that protocol, but it should be working unless it decides to switch itself back.

Strange Story. I have no idea how that could happend. As i said nothing was changed. There are only 2 persons able to change things on file-level - one is me, the other one haven't been seen for a while now.

Could that have something to do with that upcoming gamespy-shutdown? Maybe they send some kind of "command" to change the protocol? On the other side, if so, I wonder why all other arma-based games still use the same. It seems only IF1944 was affected (or even only our server? There aren't much servers for that game left).

Anyway, thanks for your effort & sorry for the "trouble". Seems to work fine again.
