Please add the ability to search for a user by unique ID. It is hell to locate people by name alone because too many people can use the same name. There is another service online that does unique ID client searching but their database of servers is not as vast as gametracker. So I think it would be a great feature to add to be the most feature rich and most useful search.

Thank you for your suggestion on being able to search by a unique ID. Should additional GameTracker users be interested in letting anyone find them in such a manner, GT will consider it when planning future updates.
My only concern with such a feature would be that the majority of people who would find it valuable are people who are stalking or tracking other users. Anyone who legitimately needs to find a friend, clan mate, etc would already have simple means of contact, and I wouldn't expect people would be jumping between too many TS3 servers. People would also need to memorize the sometimes large, numeric client IDs which seems unlikely. In terms of a use case, what are you looking to get out of it? Are you looking to let people find you more easily, or are you looking to track people more easily? ![]() |

Well I just saw the feature on another similar gametracker type of site and thought it was really great when you need to contact someone but they have left your server. You can then have a better chance of finding them to let them know something or ask them something. Without that ability you are almost certain to never find them again.

So the feature already exists. I just think it would be a great addition to gametracker. Someone came to my server and wanted a section but left (since I was sleeping) but I was able to search their unique ID and find them in some other public server and get back in touch with them and gave them a section in my server, as they wanted. Without that I may have never found them again and they would lose out.
Plus to avoid tracking, it takes 2 seconds to create a new ID, so people can always have the ability to hide if they want to never be found. Obviously they would need to pick a new name to avoid your current search technology. So in the grand scheme of things it will add to your features and people can still choose to not be found. |
