I hope you add support for SRV record DNS names because I want all my various groups to join the server using the correct domain name that is always updated to let people connect even if the IP and port change. If people connect from finding my server on gametracker and the port changes they have no idea how to get back to the server. But that could be resolved if you had SRV record resolving, so that server URL's would be
http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/TS.domain.com/ instead of http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/abcd.hostingcompany.com:6550 The former would always go to the right server since the SRV record on the DNS can be updated, whereas the last one will only work for as long as the dns name and port stay the same. |

We'll let you know if it is ever implemented. Keep in mind GameTracker determines which features to add based on how many users are interested in it. Being that you're the only person showing interest, it's unlikely to be implemented anytime in the foreseeable future.

I agree, I think this would be useful, for
clans with multiple virtual servers |

itteam wrote: Yes, it would be highly useful because it would let server owners ensure that people connect to their server using the correct SRV based details which they can always keep updated, plus give servers a small element of protection against script kiddie DDoS attacks by making it slightly harder for people to use gametracker to get the direct DNS name which they could attack. Personally I bought a new domain so that people will connect to my server using details I can always keep updated if my server moves IP or port as it has happened in the past. This way I prevent the loss of members who joined from finding my server on gametracker. Because for people who join my server from gametracker have the original DNS and port, which means when they bookmark the server and the IP or port changes due to my server being moved to a different server instance or location I lose all the people who came via gametracker because gametracker didn't have the needed support to deal with SRV records. This should be relatively simple to implement. Either way gametracker has to resolve domains any way, so simply adding an extra check for an SRV record and offering the user the ability to choose the SRV record of the direct (normal) DNS and port details at the time of adding the server or managing the settings would prevent all the issues and enrich the usefulness of gametracker over all other similar sites that also do not check for SRV records. |

![]() Like this. A simple tick-box which would allow the system to instead of using the raw DNS record, check the SRV record and use the correct IP and port behind the scenes. Then update the join links and server info page URL with the correct SRV-based address as I said in my first post. |

morthawt wrote: Now I have seen what it may look like, I would agree with adding this because it would also benefit users using a combination of TSDNS with SRV records as well as those users just using SRV records. I hope this would be added because it surely cannot take that long to implement alongside the current system. |

Well Gametracker is lagging behind. There is another server tracker which has now added TSDNS and SRV record server adding: http://ts3index.com/?page=serveradd
I recommended this weeks ago and nobody took it seriously. Well that provider either saw the recommendation I made here or decided to add it on their own. Either way gametracker is lagging behind the competition at the moment. I seriously hope you add this. |

GameTracker chooses to focus on features that bring the most impact to users. You're welcome to make a stronger case for support. Please, of course, keep in mind there are many other feature requests suggested by more than two users that have a higher priority.
