We are all here to have fun




We are foremost a serious Milsim Unit, i.e., we are organized community of military simulation enthusiasts that plays weekly Faction operations and our bread and butter Campaign Operations as the 40 Commando on Saturdays. We run two public servers so anyone interested can come and see how we operate. One of those servers runs ACE/ACRE mods which we also use for operations.

For those who decide to join us, we provide Basic Combat Training which will provide you with everything you need to know about ACE and combat tactics. After BCT we will require for recruits to pass Qualifications, just to show us that you are prepared for real operations.

What we differ from other unit is in budget system and rotating campaigns. We have fixed budget system which means you WILL be careful with your equipment and how you operate vehicles. After 4 weeks we all vote for new Faction to play operations with and in between we are doing lots of smaller operations to keep us at our best for main Campaign Operations.

Currently we provide careers for ground forces and have very small air squadron. As we fill up, we will consider adding more career paths.

If you break any of 40cdo rules you will be disciplined, hopefully that won’t be necessary since we are mature unit made out of your friends, not superiors. However, do not tempt us. Out of operations we are all here for fun and you can talk to people as they you would day to day. You do not have to address NCO and Officers by rank. Yet, in our official events we do expect that as we strive for realism in our operations/trainings. We find that we have found the perfect balance of realism/fun.

Operations

We have set operations, these are as follows:

Main Campaign: these happen every other saturday. E.g every 2nd saturday. These are our most important operations and will generally be part of a Deployment or Campaign (a number of operations set in the same area working toward a goal over the duration). This is when we use our Budget System - see in the next section - and when all our hard work shows up!

Operation Night : these happen every other saturday that the main campaign doesn’t run. These Operations will be stand-alone and on different maps and will often be aimed at being more fun and can be used for training purposes.

Faction Operations: Every month we play as a different faction for these nights! We can play as anything from the Chinese army to a rebel militia. We vote on these as a unit and we will generally have a set mod pack for that faction and possibly different maps. We will do these operations midweek and they generally happen on a Tuesday or Wednesday.

Budget System

Here at the 40cdo you get nothing for free! For our Campaigns we are given a certain budget. And every vehicle, FOB, resupply and respawn will cost the unit money. This is aimed to make the operations more interesting, more realistic and more fun! People have to be more careful with vehicles, their lives and where they park their Land Rovers!


Servers

We run two servers. One is a ACE/ACRE on takistan that just needs the basic ACE and ACRE mods to be played on. This is where we do most of our recruiting and you will often see a team of our members on so go ahead and join with their squad and you can see how it is done!

The Second server uses our own modpack and also ACE/ACRE as well as some additional mods like CBA, JayArmaLib etc. You can download this modpack from a link in the channel and you can come on and play using all of our custom guns and vehicles!

Recruiting Process

In order to join us you will need to have a legit version of ArmA 2 and ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead, a working microphone and a willingness to be the best!

We will ask for an email address once they post an application on the forums. We will email them if successful. Invite them for an interview, a LcCpl or above will do the interview. Then we will give them the Mod instruction manual and all other relevant unit material.

Once passed BCT they will be a Mne pending they have completed their Rec time in grade; 16+ year old will have to be a Rec for 2 weeks, 18+ will be a Rec for 1 week.

Cadet Program. Younger than 16? You will be assigned the rank of Cadet and can be part of a cadet Section. Cadets may be Giving full unit membership if they show dedication and maturity. As well as a few months service and good attendance.


Unit Rules

We aim to provide a fun experience for all members. We do not believe that realism need to go as far as shouting at your members 24/7, disciplining them constantly and having to address people by their ranks on downtime in a teamspeak 3 channel. We tend to be relaxed whilst we are on downtime and you will find a tremendous amount of banter in our TS3 channels!

Yet, in our operations we put our game faces on. We act as a realistic military unit. Officers are addressed by their ranks and then sir. We use impeccable radio communications and tactics. People will not be fooling about during operations act as real soldiers!

If someone breaks any unit rules or start dicking about during operations then we take that very seriously and are not afraid to remove people from the unit if they cannot comply with the rules.
