Hello folks.
Im not sure if this is the right place to post, but here we go.

So, Its my 3rd day with BFBC2 and Im starting to get the hang of it.
Mostly I play Engi or Rec. But playing as a sniper is not easy at all.
My main sniper weapon (have 3 ones that is unlocked) atm is the M24, due to it has the higest dmg. But I dont get he hang of it when it comes to the aiming. I know the fact, the further your target is, the higher your aim must be. But how do I know how high it must go? I have none info how far the target is, and therefore I have no idea how to aim. If I'm lucky, I can make some "practice" shots if I spot another sniper, but after 2-3 shots, my skull is one hole richer. And mostly my "practice" shots is just missing.

Sniping is a complicated matter in real life, and Battlefield has always been a game I commended on there aspect of realistic bullet travel. There are several factors you have to take in when you're aiming through the scope of a rifle, but only a few of them apply in BFBC2. Distance, is the only factor you have to worry about when playing this game and sniping, but there are several things involving distance.

Number One: Bullet Speed. This game enhances something they did with their earlier titles, and that is, incorporates a realistic bullet speed. When aiming at your target, you have to know that it will take a certain amount of time to actually hit that target, and that time varies with distance. If you're looking to shoot and forget, you'd better have a dead aim shot, or you're in for return fire due to the sniper's ungodly tracer rounds. Taking this into account, if you have a moving target, you're not only going to want to aim higher than his head, but you're also going to want to move a few notches in the direction that he's moving also, depending on if he's sprinting or walking, how the terrain changes in his current path, and any possible obstacles. When you take that shot, you want to make sure it's a good shot.

Number Two: Gravity. The game physics incorporate gravity for ALL weapons, so if you're shooting across the map, you're having to aim above the target you're shooting at. As the distance between you and your target grows, so does how far you have to aim above your target's head.

There is no way that I can spell out how to become a better sniper on this game, as there is no amount of text that you can read or people you can talk to to get it right. This is something that you have to learn by practice. I generally am sniping about half-map when I find my targets, and that, depending on the map, could be a notch or a notch and a half. But that also is different for different scopes, as I use the 12x scope on all of my snipers. All I can say, is keep practicing, and you'll get the hang of being able to look at your target and approximate how far up and over you have to aim.

Happy Hunting

hi you want to know how to snipe at greater distances? and how much lift is needed?well as shepfoxx mentioned the above i feel there was some thing missing to what you wanted to know.Well get your sniper and go high or low and get a nice view of the map, rush is good for this and aim at a wall really far but close enough to see,and shot it now when you shot the wall dont realese the trigger and you will stay in scope mode, now you can see how much the bullet dropped from were you shot it in the wall. The best way to really become 1 with the sniper in my 50 ranks of this game was to master all other classes and know their strenghts and weakeneses and then take to sniping full time.

It's called "Bullet drop" not "bullet speed". And you contradicted yourself in the post 'sheppfoxx'. Anyway i guess the real reason im here is to run my mouth about how i got banned for going 46-12 while sniping on this clans server. Also wanted to let you know that you're playing a violent game and the AI cusses in game. you know how that saying goes "If you cant handle the heat, then stay the fuck out of the kitchen." Yeah, same thing applies here. Take it easy.
