I am a student of Arabic and I have recently revisited Battlefield 2 (my favorite game when i was growing up). I was pleasantly surprised to discover that I could understand some of the arabic! The arabic is complicated to understand. I have been google searching for months to see if I could find the transcription of the Arabic voice lines for the MEC faction, and I have read all of the forum posts about this subject, but the responses have largely been from non-arabic speakers. However, videos like this have been helpful:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ZD49kWcQ5s The Arabic sound-design in BF2 is very good. I can tell that EA hired and experienced Arabists to deliver these lines. It sounds like there are at least 2 male characters and 1 female character. But the language overall is very good. An advanced form of Arabic, called Fusha (????) is employed, and some advanced structures and unfamiliar words to me are used in the game. Therefore, my pursuit is to be able to understand more of the dialogue in BF2. So I have a few questions: you 1) Are the vocal line already written down in arabic? Perhaps from when the vocal lines were first being recorded... 2) Is it possible to perhaps speak/interview with the person who originally delivered the voice lines for the MEC in Bf2? 3) Are the english translations of the MEC voice lines available somewhere in EA's files? ![]() |
