Hi there-

I just bought this game a few months ago from Origin's $10 anniversary sale, I finally DL'd it yesterday. I like the idea of playing some MP (not as hard as BF3, hopefully), but I can't figure out how to browse servers. The game wants me to create a gamespy account - is that service even around anymore?

Anyway, I figured someone in this forum might be able to help me figure it out.

Hi Kalei50 and welcome to the BF2 community. It is a fairly easy process to get started on battlefield 2.

When you start the game you will need to create an online account. Choose a Login name and password. Remember them because if you don't it is a pain to change them.

Once you have got your user name and password entered, you just click Log in. Close the Battlefield 3 box that comes up telling you about bf3. Then all you have to do is click the multiplayer box at top of page. Then to the right you should see a drop down button under Game Mode. Pick either Conquest (player against player) OR COOP (player against bots) Refresh the server list and you should see a bunch of servers appear for the particular mode you picked.

Find a server you want and double click it in order to join, or just highlight it and click join server. Those highlighted in white will be the only ones you can join.

This is but only a very very basic list of things to do in order to start playing. I could go into settings, options and all that stuff, but it would require a lot more explanation.

I would say some of the most important things you need to do is. Under Options tab, Controls, Aircraft, on bottom left side of screen, X the part that says invert mouse. Especially if you have problems flying planes! DO the same for Helicopter. Under the AUDIO tab, left bottom of page again, X English VO Only...or you will be listening to Chinese and other languages you don't understand.
