An old issue about in-game sound...

Hi everyone,
Recently I installed BFV on my old laptop with original CD,
then updated to the v1.21 patch, but something went wrong...
There are no sound when using the in-game radio command and the vehicle music.
I know this is an old issue on the Win7 or Vista OS, but my system is WinXP SP3...:'(

I tried to turn the BFV audio settings all to LOW but it doesn't make any change, in the win 98/Me capability mode, the sound works fine, but it causes other issue (can't choose weapon when reborn).
What reason causes this problem? Is there any other way to solve it?
I also installed BF1942 and it works just fine...

My laptop is the old ASUS A8J, but the XP SP3 is fresh installed, the specs are:
CPU: C2D T7600 2.3 GHz
RAM: 2G
VGA: ATi Mobility Radeon X1700 512MB (with Caltalyst 10.2)
Audio: ADI Soundmax AD1986A (with old 2006 driver provided by ASUS)
WLAN: Intel 3945abg

Thanks a lot!!

Interesting to know it happens with XP SP3 as well. You could try my fix for later Windows http://www.moddb.com/games/battlefield-vietnam/downloads/bfv-sound-fix

Please note the game executable has to be named BfVietnam.exe when running the game or the fix is not used.

Let me know if it helps or not.

Thanks for your reply Kersurk!

I have tried the method, it just like the compatibility mode with NT4.0, it can't recognized my CD, and the no-cd crack I founded at the "gamecpoyworld" crashed my game...

I found another discussion about the issue, also includes the sound-fix method you mentioned.

The .rfa is probably the root cause, but I don't know how to "extract" the file? If I delete the file it just makes no sound at all.

Thank you!

If using extracted files you cant play online, so wouldn't help you.

Also, use the crack from http://team-simple.org/download/bfvietnam-v1.21-patched.zip instead of the one from gamecopyworld.
