Quick and easy question: What seems to be the most popular version these days?

I left my server at 1.6v because I had a pretty good and steady crew that liked the server. Also, several months back, when I went to the 1.7v I did not have many people coming to the server, although I did not give it much time and I switched it back to the 1.6v. I'm beginning to re-think my decision as popularity in the server has fallen off drastically in the last month. The server is not really associated with any clan activity and is just listed out there for anyone to play with several rotating game types and maps. Also it is a hardcore setup with voting turned to prevent people from taking over the server.
