why is it if cracked servers are illegal that you allow them on gametracker. Its a kick in the teeth to legit server owners that most of the top 100 servers are cracked

Hello clanraider,
There is not really a way to automatically detect them from what I know. ![]() |

Hmm i dunno maybe the words crk crkd or cracked in the server name are an indication, and thus should be removed.

Hello again,
That is only circumstantial. There are also maps named cracked, while things like crk could easily be clan tags. ![]() |

If its circumstantial why does gameservers shutdown servers with cracked in the title, you really are clutching at straws. But if your happy to promote illegal activity then good on you, just pointing out that its unfair for legit server owners.

Hey clanraider!
GameTracker is very strict in terms of illegal software and activity but as Burn said there is no sure way and more importantly no "automatic" way to detect if a server is cracked or not. If their host names are used for this then only a administrator will be able find out if a server is cracked or not by looking at all the elements of that server such as clan name, etc and this method is not feasible as there are more than 0.1 million servers on GameTracker so you cannot possibly imagine that a administrator or team of administrators being assigned to check whether the servers are cracked or not. clanraider wrote: Hello, Well, if you looked into that further I am more than positive that you would find that they at least make the smallest effort to look at the server. I doubt they only go off of circumstantial evidence and actually find some sort of reasonable evidence before shutting down (eg. FTP into the server they are hosting to view changed dlls). Let me ask you this - if I created a server at this very moment, and put NS in the title, why would you think the only possible reason would be for it to be non-steam? It could be related to Natural Selection, it could be a mod acronym, or it could stand for "Naughty Soldiers." Please be sure to explain your reasoning if you get a chance. You'll find that we allow not even a mention of information about or advertising servers that run off of illegal software in our forums. We don't delete posts like these, which by your guidelines should be deleted and you suspended, since they are only inquiries about it on GT. ![]() |
