Hi m-o-r-f-i,

I think this is mostly dependent on your computer's capabilities. As a baseline, this would mean that the better the components you have (especially CPU and graphics), the better you can run the game (and have higher fps. You may also want to try to google search ways to increase your fps. There are often ways like turning off settings to get a small boost in fps for yourself.

GameServers offers hosting for 2000fps servers for CSS, DODS, and TF2, but not CS 1.6. You can get 1000fps if that is sufficient. Click the CS:GO banner in my sig to check them out.

For nvidia users:
Go to Nvidia Control panel and look this image


Now go into game and type:
fps_max 101
net_graph 3

And see how much fps you got now.

You will have the Nivida Control Panel in your Windows Control Panel only if you are a Nivida User i.e. you have a Nivida Graphics Card installed in your PC.

It's an graphic card drivers without that you even can't play any game. Depends which graphic card you have, you should disable vertical sync.

If you don't have a video card and are using onboard graphics, you shouldn't expect to have great FPS. Any optimization you might make in your computer settings your game would only have a relatively small effect.

Running fewer programs while you are playing the game will help. Mail programs, instant messengers, and other programs may be useful programs to use along-side your game or ones you usually run in the background, but the less your computer has to work with the other processes, the more power it can put towards your game.
