Hi admins,
I was wondering if setting a DNS Name in my server could cause to re-scan the server if the original IP Address changes? Is it true? My IP changes so if it scans for the DNS it will be very good. Also my DNS Client refreshes the IP Address every 4 minutes so there is no problem about that just the main thing I am asking is does the GT System scans for the DNS Name if the IP changes? Thanks in advance ![]() ![]() |

GT will resolve a DNS on a daily basis to determine if the IP has changed. GT will also attempt to resolve it to see if it has changed if the server goes down.
Further information is on the "manage" page: Configuring DNS You may use a DNS name to automatically update the IP address of this server. Here are some notes to consider when using DNS with GameTracker. The server must be claimed in order to use DNS. We resolve the DNS name daily. If this server stops responding to stats requests, then we resolve the DNS name more frequently. Adding the server (again) manually during the downtime period requires you to reclaim the server. You will likely consider it to be less of a hassle to wait for GameTracker to resolve this server. ![]() |
