I think the number one important thing is your servers internet connection. Download and upload speed.

Hey fof servers,
Check this out, it might be helpful for you. These plans are capable of aid over 40 mods or plugins. Above 6gb of ram consists of all one-click set up modpacks we offer. These are advised in case you are making plans to begin a huge community. The larger it is, the greater RAM you ought to get. Regards, Mika Hawkins |

I found in past more ram is needed if the map is huge/unlimited, as if you don't have enough ram some chunks would gliched up leaving a black hole or it would load longer

Hey fof servers,
1GB is the recommended plan for basic small vanilla servers. The best choice for a small group of friends or family. 2GB can be fantastic plan if you are also planning to add some base plugins or mods and increase your player base on your server. However 5-12GB plans are able to support over 40 mods or plugins. Regards, Mika Hawkins |

For 50 people you are going to want at least 8gb of ram dedicated. That's before any mods.
