Black Ops 2 dedicated servers confirmed for PC

Treyarch director of technology Cesar Stastny has confirmed on Twitter that the latest Call of Duty will feature dedicated ranked multiplayer servers on PC.

It’s good news, and more than a little overdue. Dedicated servers made a return with Modern Warfare 3, but were unranked and therefore didn’t contribute to your overall progress. It seems like reliable, full-featured servers have crawled back bit by bit since they originally vanished from the series.

Last week brought the news that Neversoft, the studio behind the Tony Hawk and latter Guitar Hero games, are at work on Call of Duty. Check out the E3 trailer for the first extended look at the game, in which terrorists steal the keys to the robots of the future.

I need a server for my clan.

how can i play online game from this site.

When will these companies realize Clan controlled Dedicated Servers is what will keep these games clean and fun for all Look how long Clan controlled games last e.g. HaloCE we have 5 servers very active with normal maps! These companies like Tryarc and Infinity Ward need to stick to producing the games and let us the Gaming community control the Hackers that we not the companies must play with we are the ones that love and play the games WHY they need to attempt to ADMIN the games is beyond me and all of us huh!

cod4 was the pinnacle of the cod series

Does it have ded servers?

They seem to have changed the definition of Dedicated Servers. In case they need a reminder. Unless the BO2 dedicated servers are 100% like the dedicated servers we still enjoy for CoD4 MW and CoD5 WAW, they are NOT DEDICATED SERVERS. That means we rent them, they are ranked and we manage and control them 100%, and we don't pay them for slots above and beyond the server rental charge, AND we get to rent them from gameservers.com. So, based on what I just put here, I guess they WON'T have dedicated servers.

Black Ops 2 will have ranked dedicated servers, but they'll be controlled by Black Ops 2 staff. Servers will NOT be available to rent.

Dedicated servers or not. I am done with COD franchise if only way COD beat Battlefield with large maps, able to drive tank vehicles etc etc. Then maybe that day i will buy. CODWAW had tanks in them why didn't they add after that? Because Engine is still old and shitty.

Well I wont buy the game until ive seen what they intend on doing with it. They never tell you the truth. So i will just sit back a watch what they are doing do lol.

These are the people that tried to fook PC FPS gamers but we hurt their pockets.
Each and every time they say there's going to be dedi servers they always miss something out. Something they don't tell you that you aint getting or it will cost you more once your in game.
Lets wait and see what they're hiding.

I honestly cant believe anyone plays the call of duty series games anymore. Everyone I buy is a HUGE mistake. Who would pay for a game when you have Free to play games like APB that are just Fantastic!! Gonna take more than dedicated servers to get me back. How bout some maps that are larger than a kids playground?

Lol, you know you're making a pathetic game when you have to CONFIRM you will have dedicated servers for a FPS. Dumbasses actually play this shit?
