I can't join any of the running servers on quake 1. i have installed game tracker and i can't add quake1 in this program list of installed games.

Do i need a specific version of quake 1?
I don't know what i'm doing wrong...i need some guidance.

yeah i have a similar problem, when i boot quake live from gametracker and specifically click on a server to join it takes me to the console of quake world and says that no servers are found.

Regarding the original quake, the one launched in 1996, there are 2 versions, both online:
* regular Quake (visit www.quakeone.com for info)
* Quakeworld (the official multiplayer version of Quake - visit www.quakeworld.nu for info)

you can download a Quakeworld "pack", with almost everything necessary to play, for free, at http://nquake.com/

there's a server browser in game and on http://www.quakeservers.net/
http://www.quakeservers.net/ has also (regular) quake servers.
