Scanning not querying new DNS

Hey,

I changed my DNS from ts.enigma-gaming.co.uk to main.enigma-gaming.co.uk and it's not querying the new domain, no connection has been attempted since it was changed.

Is there some time delay on this?

What have you set the new IP as? Both domains are resolving as 147.135.156.86

What query port(s) ?

When did you make the change?

Microsoft Telnet> open 147.135.156.86 10011
Connecting To 147.135.156.86...Could not open connection to the host, on port 10011: Connect failed
Microsoft Telnet>

GameTracker doesn't query by DNS, it queries by IP. It checks for a new IP daily, or more frequently if it goes offline. Being able to detect a new IP depends on if your DNS change has propagated.
I am retired from GameTracker after 11 years and will not be responsive for support requests.

Hi,

Ah okay, so why is it not updating and trying to check again on the new DNS?

It's probably still caching the old IP for ts.enigma-gaming.co.uk, but I would have expected it would have already detected main.enigma-gaming.co.uk is a different IP?

I'm well aware it's propagated, this is because you have not recently visited the server. If you had of recently visited it would be cached for up to 24 hours.

Gametracker has ts.enigma-gaming.co.uk cached to the old IP and hasn't tried to connect to main.enigma-gaming.co.uk.

The "Update DNS" button is not an "Update IP" button. The DNS feature serves as a way to update a server with a dynamic IP address, but technically can be used in situations like yours where the owner changes IP or host.

GameTracker resolves the DNS name daily. If this server stops responding to stats requests, then GameTracker resolves the DNS name more frequently.

Please allow up to 48 hours for GT to detect an IP change. DNS propagation can take 24-48 hours and GT may only check for IP changes once per day since the original server is still online. If you turn off the old server, you may get it to change faster.

It's updated now, but I would have thought the update dns would have tried to check for a new IP on that domain when I entered it or is there still a delay on it?

What many people would do, is change their domain name or change from static IP to dns while the IP remains the same.

As Burn said, "The "Update DNS" button is not an "Update IP" button."

Worldwide dns servers can take quite a few hours to propagate an IP change, therefore Gametracker can not be expected to be any faster than that propagation, which outside Gametracker's control.

Lol, it was a question. I never expected you guys to be better than worldwide propagation. Especially since it was a brand new DNS entry, no caching of it anywhere.

Apologies for thinking asking a question was allowed here.
