I've been playing Unreal Tournament religiously at LAN parties with nearby friends for a few years, but have never played it online before. Just through lan. Getting tired of playing the same few people over and over, I wanted to get into the online scene. Unfortunately I'm not entirely certain how to connect to the servers. I downloaded the GT client and installed it properly, then went to the in-browser server list and hit "join server" on the first likely seeming one, granting the browser's request to launch UT and waiting for it to finish connecting. I'm not sure where to go from there though. I went to the "multiplayer" tab and chose "find internet games", but nothing showed up in any of the server tabs. Any help regarding how exactly to get into the game would be very much appreciated.

Hey.
You don't find servers because Gamespy shutdown and so they shutdown the masterserver. Here is a quick solution: Open your unrealtournament.ini (it is in UnrealTournament/System and find this section: [UBrowser.UBrowserMainClientWindow] ... ... ... bKeepMasterServer=False Change it to bKeepMasterServer=True Then you must find this section: [UBrowserAll] ListFactories[0]=UBrowser.UBrowserGSpyFact,MasterServerAddress=unreal.epicgames.com,MasterServerTCPPort=28900,Region=0,GameName=ut ListFactories[1]=UBrowser.UBrowserGSpyFact,MasterServerAddress=master0.gamespy.com,MasterServerTCPPort=28900,Region=0,GameName=ut bHidden=True bFallbackFactories=True Cahnge it to this: [UBrowserAll] ListFactories[0]=UBrowser.UBrowserGSpyFact,MasterServerAddress=master.333networks.com,MasterServerTCPPort=28900,Region=0,GameName=ut ListFactories[1]=UBrowser.UBrowserGSpyFact,MasterServerAddress=master.noccer.de,MasterServerTCPPort=28900,Region=0,GameName=ut ListFactories[2]=UBrowser.UBrowserGSpyFact,MasterServerAddress=master.errorist.tk,MasterServerTCPPort=28900,Region=0,GameName=ut ListFactories[3]=UBrowser.UBrowserGSpyFact,MasterServerAddress=tempest.333networks.com,MasterServerTCPPort=28900,Region=0,GameName=ut ListFactories[4]=UBrowser.UBrowserGSpyFact,MasterServerAddress=utmaster.epicgames.com,MasterServerTCPPort=28900,Region=0,GameName=ut bHidden=True bFallbackFactories=true AutoRefreshTime=0 bNoAutoSort=False From now on you shou8ld be able to find a huge number of UT servers. For more information just go here: http://333networks.com (Who made the fastest masterserver) http://ut99.org "The HUB" of UT 99 forums. |
