Treolar, I meant for you to send me a log if you are crashing while joining, as you described in the first post. The log you sent showed you joined and played several maps successfully, then died. If you're crashing while dying, we don't need to see those logs, everyone gets the same errors.

It's not only whilst dying. That dragonspire map was continuous crash on voting it up and restarting my game and joining server again.
Though it may have been in that case in calandras. I just voted up a map called tajmahal-cf and the server fell over 5 seconds into it. http://s230.photobucket.com/user/treloar_2007/media/video/stuffup.mp4.html Made a little demorec of someone running constantly into wall... Edit: just got another game crash, copied the text as thus: UT2004 Build UT2004_Build_[2005-11-23_16.22] OS: Windows NT 6.0 (Build: 6002) CPU: GenuineIntel PentiumPro-class processor @ 3000 MHz with 3838MB RAM Video: GeForce 9300 / nForce 730i/PCI/SSE2 General protection fault! History: UObject::ConditionalDestroy <- UObject::GetFullName <- DispatchDestroy <- DispatchDestroys <- UObject::PurgeGarbage <- UObject::StaticExit <- appPreExit <- FMallocWindows::Free Does this specify that something is wrong? ![]()

Where you running your engineer? General protection faults are crashes associated with engineer/medic/general.
I think that if I was you, I would wipe and reload your game. Both Jefe and I saw residue from partially loaded modifications from other servers and maps from the information you sent to me. Orson Welles |

Yeah I play on quite a few servers, and I have run this PC as a server.
I've had these kinds of crashes on my other PC's as well though and they are fresh installs, one on Win 7 Pro and 1 on Linux. Someone suggested that having special characters in my name could cause issues, should I drop the {Dark} clan tag from my name? Dark clan is pretty well stuffed now since a rogue admin wiped 8GB of files in an act of idiocy and Spin has been unwell cause he had a stroke. ![]() |

Those aren't special characters. You can drop the clan name though, just specify how you want it changed in the name change thread.
I wouldn't wipe your install, but it's possible there is a file conflict on some maps due to a couple of problem files, but we'll only find out which ones if you post a log of you crashing upon joining. What we saw wouldn't necessarily cause a file conflict, it just clued us in that you've installed a lot of files from your cache. It will, however, increase the amount of time it takes you to start UT. Here's an example: Progress: Exporting DOM-DMP-Dissipate... Warning: Failed to load 'A2597skybox': Can't find file for package 'A2597skybox' Warning: Failed to load 'DOM-DMP-Dissipate': Can't find file for package 'A2597skybox' Warning: Failed to load 'LevelSummary DOM-DMP-Dissipate.LevelSummary': Can't find file for package 'A2597skybox' Warning: Error loading DOM-DMP-Dissipate ! What's happening here is that UT scans all maps and mods at startup, and any thing that hasn't been "Okayed" (UT will generate a UCL file) it checks to see if the missing resources have been installed. I suggest working through your log file and either deleting those custom maps or tracking down the missing resources. You're also using the OpenGL driver instead of Direct X. That might also be an issue. Try switching. I just tested OpenGL on my this machine, and while it worked, the left edge of menu was offset almost to the right edge of the screen. EDIT: That menu issue was caused by a custom menu class. I did, however, notice lower framerates using the GL driver.

OpenGL is pretty much history as DirctX won out in that battle. I think the Quake series is the only game that still uses OpenGL and I think they stopped that when they brought out Quake 4.

CTF-2on2spacelego SUPER slow download, no idea why. literally .1% every 5 seconds. size is 12,051k, not sure if that's normal. i tried looking for the map to download online, haven't found a copy yet.

The map wasn't on the redirect. Thank you for reporting it, because if I have the file installed, I won't know about the slow download. Fixed now.
