You can set up a custom screen resolution in UO. Go into the UO main folder. In there you will see a uoconfig_mp. Open that with notepad. Then use the find tab, and find

seta r_mode "random number here"

change that number to -1. This allows the game to use a custom resolution.

Then find seta r_customheight "random number" and
seta r_customwidth "random number"

you then fill in the numbers you want. For example, my laptop's native resolution is 1920X1080
1920 is the width (widescreen) and 1080 is the height.

After editing all the configs make sure to save the notepad. Close notepad and start the game. Your resolution should now be set up to your custom resolution. Let me know if you need more help.

hey I tried this since when I open uo It only displays the game in the centre of the screen. After I type in the -1, I open find to find the customheight and custom width but it tells me that it cannot find them. My screens ideal resolution is 1366 x 768.

Just a guess...

Some of the older hacking demos I had showed people playing with a vastly skewed pov... Basically whatever cheat they were using was cranking up the field of view to like 180+ degrees, giving them peripheral vision in their pov without turning to look. Is it possible that you have exceeded the games built in fov parameter, making it think you are attempting to 'cheat' and disallowing the config?

Like I said, just a guess...

Now I'm tech support. so I've done everything, Safe-mode, DMZ'ed the router, got rid of all the fire walls, ran 3 full virus, spy-ware and male-ware scans, NADA!!! I'm also not gonna reinstall windows fresh if I can help it, this comps got premium, all I got is a disk for home. Now mom can use this comp fine, I'm just P'Oed that the gfx card I put in it is next to useless, BTW I don't have an APG so I can't use it in my PIC only comp... any help on this would be greatly appreciated, before I destroy this hunk of scrap aluminum!!! I have gotten it to work on all my computers, so not really sure why it won't work for you guys.

Yeah i checked and if you type in "height" or "width" in find it does't show up. Type in Seta, and keep clicking next until you find it.

As long as you have seta mode set to -1, and the other 2 modes to the corresponding height and width it should work.

I will look into this more when i have time.

I figured it out, because your settings don't change the FOV cod will stretch the image to fit the wide screen res but when you try to increase the FOV it wont let ya.

;) And another thing with The Dark Screen on UO...

I also had issues with a 'dark scree' in UO. It looked fine in 'window' mode, and I could adjust the brightness normally. In 'full screen' mode however it was very dark, and moving the slider control for brightness had no effect at all.

It turned out to be Windows 7's 'aero' style themes. UO doesn't handle the transparent stuff well and causes video problems. Eventually I ran coduomp.exe in compatibility mode for Windows XP (right click the file ---> compatibility click 'run this program in compatibility mode' and select ed Windows XP sp3), and the issue was resolved.

Windows 7 is a bit more picky, but it utilizes your computers resources a LOT better then XP. It also has DX11

W7_>XP>the rest.
