Recruits no more!

Well now, how about some official CSTF clan news for a change, instead of my ramblings on the current state of my bodily organs. Here we go!

New Teapotted Members!

We have some new teapots recorded and that means one thing: I need to get Audacity to work on my machine without it zonking my sound card. But that's not the real meaning of the singing. The real meaning is thusly: we have new full-fledged members! Woohoo! Yay! Rah-rah-shish-koom-bah!

First to officially join was the one, the only, the ... (waits for the TeamSpeak recorded file to load, since I forgot to write down the people who sang): [CSTF]Drake! He was so eager to sing that he started before Brian gave his epic speech about the meaning of the song, of life, of his favorite color (magenta), and whether the weather had weathered his sense of something that is a homonym of "weather." So [CSTF]Drake sang a beautiful remix version of the song, steaming it up by insinuating that HIS teapot is "hot so hawt" as opposed to steamed up.

After much merriment over the mis-lyric, we moved on to the CSTF member formerly known as [CSTF]sage-r, who, after a beautiful rendition learned from her years of watching Barney, became [CSTF]sagesasami. Kinda like when Hot Rod became Rodimus Prime on the original Transformers cartoon, except sagesasami's transformation was a lot cooler than Hot Rod's, since hers was meaningful while Hot Rod's was done after killing off the greatest action hero ever to exist, Optimus Prime, a move that was so dumb that they had to resurrect him later on. But this isn't about Prime, whether Optimus or the one who isn't worthy to be mentioned in the same sentence as Optimus, Rodimus. What the hell, this has been a tangent from hell. My apologies to [CSTF]sagesasumi. Congratulations!

Next was [CSTF]MYKILL. He has a rasping Southern accent, and sang the song beautifully and on-key and everything, for, in his words, he "prides [him]self in quality." He had the aid of background music, though, so he gets an A=. Sorry man, but fair's fair. No one's gotten an A+ except for Kemp, who has never actually sung for us, which thus earned him the high grade and our gratitude.

Then [CSTF]bkphysics-r was offered teapot action, but, as someone pointed out, he wants to remain a recruit for a few more weeks. I don't blame him, given the responsibilities associated with being a full member (laughing at Brian's jokes. Trust me, it's a lot harder than it sounds. Just kidding! Brian rocks! He's naturally funny and a handsome man with a rockin' tattoo of my sexy face inked on his palms).

Finally, [CSTF]torinalth enraptured us with a near-opera quality version of Teapot in a deep voice that, as one person said, was "kinda hot actually." Nice work man, and may you perspire to be a great CSTF member.

About Us

CSTF History

CSTF began probably around 1998 at my place of work. I was a material handler working for CommScope, a cable manufacture facility. I worked with a guy named Rocky ([CSTF]Rock) who was the receiving clerk and he played computer games a lot. He would always talk to me about these computer games and I was interested in playing. One day he found a game called half-life and wouldn’t stop talking about it. There was another guy "David" ([CSTF]David) who worked up in scheduling who was also friends with Rocky and he also bought the game Half-Life. They would talk about the game at every break and it would drive me crazy. I found out that another one of our friends "Joel" ([CSTF]Joel) went and bought the game and he loved it. I couldn’t afford to buy the game at the time so Ro [show more] cky came over and installed his copy on my computer. He told me I couldn’t play at the same time as he did or he couldn’t play. I couldn’t understand what he meant by playing at the same time.

I began playing the single player version until I beat the game. When I was at work one day they asked me if I was ever going to get online and play with them so I agreed one day and logged onto Rocky's account and played some TFC. I got so addicted to this game that he couldn’t play when he wanted to because I was playing under his WONID number. I ended up buying my own copy and we found a voice program called Roger Wilco. It was just a bunch of friends playing online after work and we had so much fun. We played almost everyday and we got pretty good at knowing what each of our playing styles were like. Rocky would play as a soldier and just waste everyone, I loved playing as the medic and David and Joel played Soldier and Demo. We played in the same server almost every night so we made new friends it was kinda cool.

We started noticing that people were tagging themselves as clan's and we started asking questions about why you would want to do that. Rocky immediately thought we should group together and come up with a clan tag of our own. Rocky started talking to this one particular clan named [187], we would almost every night play with these guys and had a ball. Clan [187] had their own web site and looked to be somewhat organized. Rocky asked us all to come up with a name for the clan and the web site so we thought and thought and the only thing we could think of is that we all work together as friends at the same place so lets name it after where we worked at. We worked for CommScope so we came up with C S T F, Comm Scope Team Fortress. That name stayed in play for a little while until someone at our plant got fired for putting CommScope's name in their after work activities. So we quickly changed the name to Communication & Strategy Team Fortress.

We found that they actually have leagues and competitions in this game so we signed up and started signing up recruits. We added another player from CommScope, [CSTF]Brockster he worked with me in the Quality Control Department. My nephew was also added to the roster during this period, you all know him as Viper!!! That rascal has beat me at every game I have ever tried to play. It does not matter what game you play he will be in the top 5 if not the top 10! Viper’s older brother played a little but did not join the clan.. his name is Antithym. Viper found a good friend while playing in the servers after school and we recruited him… his name was Ryan. I wish we could find Ryan… ohh where are you Ryan? I would like to recognize another great asset to our clan …. [CSTF]Blood… Blood lived in Florida somewhere and he was the best Engineer I have ever played with! Another good player I would like to mention would be [CSTF]HG… HeraGema or something like that…. We just called him HG! HG played as a great Spy… as well as some other classes. I cannot forget my good friend Michael.. who played as [CSTF]Nitro_Ice he basically helped us a lot during matches as Heavy Weapons on defense. And…….lets not forget…. Larfus!!!…(demoman) Larfus was Moonshiner’s friend growing up… during my first lan party Larfus fell asleep and we put signs on him and took pictures for the web site.

We were going to be serious in playing in leagues so we decided to break up into offense and defense groups, so I took the offense and Rocky took the defense. Rocky and I started coming up with some strategies of our own. We quickly became a big clan in a hurry and ended up buying a server of our own. Rocky actually got our server in the end for free with a nearby company who was using us for bait to lure more gamers in. We lost friendship with clan [187] and found a new clan to be allies with called the R "Respawn".

We all switched jobs and I signed up with a maintenance program and started going to school. I started talking with some new friends I met in school and they quickly became interested in the game as well, you know these cats well.... Airborne, and Moonshiner. We joined the TFL league and played pretty well. Respawn became really great allies at this point and we would scrimmage with these guys. One day we all decided to have a lan party at my house. Rocky had a lot of routers and lan cables n stuff and we used my full size basement and we had about 20 people show up for the weekend including some people from Georgia that was in our clan... Elvee and Whiskers. Respawn's main players were located in Georgia as well and since Elvee lived in Georgia we decided to have a lan party at Elvee's house in Georgia and invite the Respawn clan. This is around 2000 at this point in time and we somehow decided to merge with Respawn.

Once we merged we lost a lot of our playing time and we sort of became backup players and a lot of our clan just sort of got tired of being on the back burner so they slowly started dropping out. I have to include this part right here… sorry Moonshiner for what I’m about to say…..but one of us..well at least he was the only one to get caught saying it, had a problem with the way things had changed since we were merged. It wasn’t anything against the Respawn guys because we had a ball with them and we liked every single Respawn player, but we were left out of the league play all together…. Became bench warmers and one of us… not saying any names here but Moonshiner sent out by accident a MASS EMAIL, I wont say what it contained but it became a hot topic for awhile and quite humorous for some of us… ROFLMAO. We had another lan party in 2001 at Elvee's house in Georgia as Respawn without Moon! We changed our tags back to CSTF for fun and played Respawn at the lan party and waxed them, well the score was 30 to 10! That showed us we were still pretty good as a CSTF team but that was probably the beginning of the end for tfc. Rocky stopped playing shortly after that and then we all slowly stopped playing and found a new game... DOD (days of defeat).

We graduated from college in December of 1999 and started working at the Statesville facility in 2000 and found two new players at our new plant: Shadow_Assassin and Bluflame. We decided to start another clan for DOD and since we were all in the maintenance department which was dept. # 181 we named our clan the [181st] and we had a pretty big group playing DOD. We had a few more lan parties at Moonshiner's pad and [181st]Witeout who also works in maintenance with us brought a copy of Battlefield Vietnam and we installed it and started playing that at the lan party. We eventually switched over to Battlefield 2 and quit playing DOD. We kept our clan tag as [181st] and continued playing Battlefield 2 for a couple of years. Some of us switched to playing Knights on Line some of us switched to 2Moons and some stayed playing DOD. I do want to throw in there that we did play some Counter Strike occasionally and of course Viper ruled at that too! Then a few weeks ago... TF2 came out!!!! OMG... we have been waiting for like 9 yrs to play this I remember when we were in college we would go to Best Buy everyday for lunch and see if it had come in yet. Of course they would say next month we promise!!!! and we would go back ever time.... so now.... finally we are playing the new TF2. That is all I can remember for now....
