I brought it in......i asked about installing either XP or windows 7 they thought since the problem started abruptly that its a hardware issue as well....but.....they suggested a wiping of the harddrive...reinstall of Vista..and trying from there....if it persists then they are leaning towards a vid card heating up and robbing cpu's.....they are installing vista today and im bring cod waw over for them to install and try to see if video issues are solved or not.....if not they will install new vid card in and give it a go......they wont even take this dell in on trade!!! way to go Dell.....hopefully midweek ill be back on? if its not fixed geronimo will get a stab at it.....any suggestions on vid cards in the meantime?

its about money and time ..this pc is my wifes also so it cant be down for long periods.....they are reinstalling at no cost and covering all labor involved with repairs.......XP was not an option im not goin to buy XP when windows 7 is out there....this machine worked JUST FINE untill one day when it started acting up...has to be a software thing......or Vid card is going out......if this doesnt work then i will convert over to a business pc for her and build a new one for gaming when i can afford it......if it IS the vid card...any suggestions for the replacement?

I just don't understand why they haven't been able to confirm whether or not it is the video card. Don't they have another one around to try out? Are you sure these guys are Geeks? Or are they Greek?

Sounds like this is being overly scrutinized. It aint that hard to trouble shoot a broken PC
