| New Year, New Changes, and New Ideas? |

From the few of us here at wD, we hope that you all had a great holiday season filled with happiness and joy. We wish for everyone to have a great and successful year in 2009. Happy New Year! A week ago on December 23rd, 2008, we started our first new event to help bring in more members. We got a good start, and with over 30 new members registered, but it kinda slowed down towards the end. No biggie, we're on our way to become a much bigger community. Now the hard part is keeping those new members active. This year sure was fun (All 2 months! Whoo!), but there is one thing in particular that I wish to see improved in 2009. There are a lot of people who play on the server regularly, but only a handful choose to participate in forum activity. In addition, the forum activity that has been thriving recently leaves much to be desired. The most common activity has been useless replies in threads just berating another user for stupid reasons, turning every topic into an off topic discussion, trying to find unintentional sexual innuendos in every topic for a stupid joke, and much more. I wish to see an increase in forum activity by all users, both new and current players. Seems reasonable, no? Time for the wonderful new changes to wD! I'd like to firstly thank the members who chose to vote for what they wanted in their new server. With our new Iceworld DM underway, I'm hoping we can gather a more diverse community and spread our horizon further from only CS:S. (TF2 as well maybe? Someday..) I've finally finished setting up the new server with deathmatch, noblock and added it to our Global Ban system. We're starting with 14 max players and seeing how well it does first. If upgrades are needed, then they will be purchased. Oh yes, one more thing, this won't be our only new server for the year, we already have another freshly wrapped server, all ready to go. We'll make another server poll soon enough. ;] There will be a few other matters of possible change sometime later in the future, but I won't bother you with the details as of yet. I'll slowly post topics to get your feedback before any major changes take place. Also the website could undergo a little makeover, but that's not of great importance. Ah yes, now for what you've all been waiting for. The promotions of '09! Congratulations to whoever made it, and don't fright if you can't find your name. There's still lots of opportunities for you guys to get recognized on the server, forums and vent. [ wD - wDs ] wDs. Ch|ken* wDs. Hi everyone, and this announcement is regarding the new rule on wD tags. Xzero and I have discussed it, and feel that it is in the best interest of this community to do this. Anyone can have a wD tag on, representing that you are a regular community player. However, there will be some new tags added. The order of tags, from lowest rank to highest would be wD, wDs (standing for wD Soldiers) and lastly wDe (standing for wD Elites). So right now, anyone can wear the wD tag, but if Xzero or I feel you are really trying to help the community, you will be promoted. Getting promoted is not easy, it takes dedication, loyalty and your ingame behaviours. People who contribute on the forums by making meaningful posts that help other members, players who donate to the servers and just an all-around helpful person, nominations will be made and discussed among higher ranked council members. There are many great ways to get involved in our community. Here are some suggestions: * Become comfortable with the forum organization and post frequently. * Attend community events. These are listed on our forums 'Contests and Events' and can also be found using the Calendar. But we won't be having many of those until we've grown a little bigger. * Get to know other members in the community. Members will always be happy to answer questions about our community and share a great time in the servers with you. Now onto the promotions! We'd like to congratulate the following for proving their dedication to the community as a whole and rewarded with their own tag. Hello, this is your webbymaster [Xzero] again, here to inform you that the homepage is finally done. After a small delay of a couple of days I finally managed to focus enough on it to finish it. Now all that there is left to do is to finish off the remainder of the small pages with the same basic template/fonts/style etc, which shouldn't take more than a couple of hours. After the pages are completed, the next thing to be worked on will be the forums, I will try my best to code it to the extent to where it actually looks like its part of this site. Same banner, colors, width [maybe]. We're trying to get enough donation money in order to afford a IPB license. As for now, we can use the handy-dandy phpbb forums. GlobalBans is also up and running, after testing, it works fine. Current admins will now be encouraged to stop using mani ban (I will remove the mani ban flag if needed), and will now need to message me to get them set-up for an admin account to use the system. Nevertheless, once everything is done, you should have for yourselves something you can definitely call, unique. That will be all for now, till the next update, cheers. http://www.wdgaming.net
