The mod itself is nice and gives you a completely new feeling in compare to most UT-weapons, as most of them are bullet-weapons with realistic feeling for weight, ballistic and so on of the weapon, but there are only 1-2 servers who run it and they are empty except from the bots. I have one example-screenshot in my account-profile here. It may look nice, but would make the match more unclear and confusing. And then it either has a big impact on the performance, if it stays for the whole match, or it would disappear, which would be sad for the effect. The realistic shadows, which change the direction depending on proximate lightsources work unfortunately only in 3rd-person-view. ![]() |

As someone who's watched hundreds of homemade performance gaming videos (stunting, fragging, etc.) and has a ~30GB collection of such productions on HDD, allow me to offer some advice since this trend is now on its formative stage:
- Try to get the basics of structure and presentation down. Have a short intro that lets viewers know what they're going to see (have it use its own music, tell what game it's from - what server/clan it was made on/by, maybe a splash screen if you want to present your videos like they were made from a production house and so on), use the full frame of your chosen video resolution and try to use standard dimensions and framerates for game footage (640x480, 800x600 or 1024x768 @ 30fps are the most popular fullscreen choices for Fraps material; there's some WS too if you want) and have a credits section at the end that perhaps lists participants, collaborators, the music tracks that were played and any other stuff you want to throw in (special thanks, short messages, interesting facts, production date, splash outro, etc.) - Use the music! I'm not talking about simply a casual, accompanying internet-radio style approach where you set a playlist and let the songs play one after another, no. The music sets the feel, tone and tempo of your vid, so first of all, select your genre and tracks wisely! Then, try to sync the action with your music, if you feel your editing skills are up to it. Also very improtant: use a bit of (cross)fading and make sure it ends where/when it's supposed to (a video where the credits have ended, but the editor keeps it going so the music can end too makes for a clumsy result). Maybe use a fitting filter or transition or a small flash on occasion. If the music is pumping through some parts, try to have the action and the shots you choose reflect that; have exciting stuff occur on top of drum beats, for instance. When the song goes through a bridge/tunnel and mellows out, maybe pick something slower there or switch to another "concept" for those seconds (use a different filter or a different camera approach). - Know beforehand what you set out to do, what is your goal with this video. Most ppl are familiar with the game you're capturing the action from, so - ideally - you'll want to offer them something better and above the standards of an everyday experience. Set out to pick and highlight the amazing and entertaining parts of the footage you capped, don't involve uninteresting bits before and after if those can be cut off without compromising a clip. Pick the best camera angles that help bring out the action: thankfully, just like GTA games, UT has a very helpful program for that, called RypelCam, which (if you've watched any good productions) you can use to extreme effect to follow/freeze the action and get some outstanding material - try it, play with it (and most of all, watch more vids from seasoned editors for ideas). The choice between 1st/3rd perspective also makes a difference in some scenes, so think what does the job best. Most of all, nobody wants to see boring stuff! If you're aiming for a fragvid production, don't show your star dieing randomly or wasting 4 sniper shots to kill their prey or just walk around parts of the map doing nothing; we do this routine stuff every day and don't consider it fun, so if it's just average, remove it. Experiment with different video editors if you feel the one you're using is constrained or if there's some idea on your mind that it can't help you with (WMM2 is a very limited editor, for example) - Adobe Premiere and Sony Video Vegas are two programs that offer a wide range of options in editing (don't forget secondary help progs either: VirtualDub at first, image editing progs like Photoshop for masks/stills, After Effects later for visual improvements, etc.). Anyways, sorry for the rant there, hope some of it helps get you more involved and thinking about these aspects while you create your videos. Happy editing ![]()

Btw, Meretrix frag movie is one of the best UT-movies i'v ever seen, but intro sux, caus its toooooooo long and not so impressive to be so long! Well, I didnt know about RypelCam, but i love it! I'll try it i think!

indeed, but:
he commits almost every time suicide. so there are maybe lets say -30 frags because of it. 2nd, IMO had to jump in the trenches, and shoot up+angle from there. 3rd i think shooting at the ceiling is more effective :> |
