GTMurmur will not be able to bind to an IP address that is not hosted on the machine running it. In order to get it to work properly, you would have to bind it to a local address (e.g 192.168.1.xxx) then setup port forwarding accordingly.

Hahah, oh wow.
If only this was mentioned in the readme, that would have saved me a lot of trouble.

gtmurmur_ip=1.2.3.4

7. Change "1.2.3.4" to the IP address of your Murmur server.

It doesn't specify whether it's the public/external/WAN IP address or the servers locally assigned IP address - I had gotten the impression that GameTracker would query GTmurmur directly and not the Murmur server, which would then sort of redirect that query to GTmurmur, so I set gtmurmur_ip to my external IP address.

I have everything running as intended now - even threw a quick batch script together and moved it to the startup folder, so that GTmurmur will be executed automatically in case the server computer reboots.

Thank you both so much for your patience and support!
But perhaps it should be added in the readme that gtmurmur_ip needs to be a local address

No problem, we're glad to help. Its great to hear that things are setup and working properly now.

I understand the confusion based on your setup. Thanks for the additional feedback. Using a local IP is the general rule for server software when you're behind a router. A diagram on how GTMurmur uses the network would have helped greatly in this case.

Best regards.
I do not provide support over PM. Please ask your questions on the GameTracker forums.
